When Nelli first reached out to us, she had a vision—an unforgettable family adventure in Ecuador. Traveling all the way from Norway with her husband and children, she wanted to explore Ecuador’s most breathtaking destinations while keeping the trip comfortable, safe, and enriching for everyone. At first, Galápagos was a clear choice, but there was one challenge: how to visit multiple islands without long speedboat rides (which can be uncomfortable for kids). After reviewing the options, we recommended San Cristóbal Island as their base. From there, they could snorkel at Kicker Rock, visit Española Island, and enjoy sea lions, turtles, and marine iguanas—all without the hassle of long boat transfers. But Ecuador is much more than just Galápagos. Nelli’s family also dreamed of visiting the Amazon rainforest, but they were understandably concerned about malaria and safety. We carefully selected a comfortable eco-lodge in Tena, where they could experience the jungle without needing anti-malarial medication. The lodge offered family-friendly activities, including an indigenous community visit, chocolate-making experience, wildlife hikes, and an unforgettable rafting trip on the Jatunyacu River. From there, the adventure continued to Baños, where they swung over the clouds at the famous Treehouse Swing, explored hidden waterfalls, and soaked in natural hot springs. Then came Mindo, a paradise of hummingbirds, chocolate, and misty cloud forests—perfect for the kids to experience nature up close. Finally, a stop in Otavalo to browse Ecuador’s most famous market, followed by a visit to Quito’s historic center and the Middle of the World.
